Facebook’is gradually building”shadow profiles”of non-users of the social networking site, a privacy watchdog has claimed.

Ireland’s Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) claims that users are encouraged to give out non-user’s personal details, like names, phone numbers and email addresses, which Facebook uses to create”shadow profiles”of those people.

Strong earthquake rocks Turkey, 1000 feared killed

As many as 1,000 people were feared killed on Sunday when a powerful earthquake truck Turkey, collapsing dozens of buildings and pulling down phone and power lines in the southeast of the country, officials and witnesses said.

Emergency workers battled to rescue people trapped in buildings in the city of Van and surrounding districts on the banks of Lake Van, near Turkey’s border with Iran.

“We heard cries and groaning from underneath the debris, we are waiting for the rescue teams to arrive,”Halil Celik, a young man who lived in the centre of the city, told Reuters as he stood beside the ruins of building that had collapsed before his eyes.

‘Sexting’ Tops List Of UK’s Most Annoying Tech Jargon

The phrase “sexting”– ie, sending of sexually explicit photographs or messages by cell phone — has topped the list of UK’s most annoying technology jargon.

In fact, it came first on a’YouGov’poll of 2,054 adults in the UK which revealed Britons’least favourite technology lexicon of 2011.

“Sexting”was the clear winner with 24 per cent of votes cast. The runner-up was”intexticated”, with 13 per cent of the vote — meaning”unable to concentrate while driving due to being distracted by texting”, the poll revealed.
